Saal Photobooks

I have been looking for a photo book that I could offer clients as an alternative to photo albums but that would still be a high quality product to show off the photographs from their day but still be affordable.  I hadn't heard of Saal Digital before until a friend put me onto them after being impressed himself with the software and finished product, so I decided to take a look and give it a try.

Here are my thoughts on the product from design to finished article and why I am happy to be able to offer this to my clients. 

Software - The software is very easy and quick to use. I found the designing of the photobook quite fun being able to create the spreads and over looks of each page easily with a range of borders, masks and effects to put images together on each spread. You have the option of a selection of predefined layouts or just create the layout yourself and add extra pages as you design your book and add text and even clipart if you want to really capture the essence of the day. 

Sizes - Although the range of sizes isn't as great as some companies, it doesn't need to be, the sizes they offer are simple and practical without having so many options you don't know which one to go for. For me less is more in this case, they offer square, portrait and landscape books. 

Outside - there are a variety of options for the covers including a personalised cover, for my sample to use to showcase my work I opted for the unpadded, glossy image cover which is beautifully finished and really eye catching. One thing I really like is that you can have images on both the front and back covers to complete the book. 

Inside - The books are a lay flat format which is perfect for wedding photographs as it means you can span an image over two pages and not lose any detail. The colours and quality of the printing are incredible and really showcase the photographs, this is true for both the black and white and colour images.

I like the variety of options which include a presentation box whilst still being an affordable and a modern option to display your wedding photographs for friends and family to see.  

Overall I am very impressed with these photobooks and they are something that I am happy to now be able to offer to my clients. From placing the order to receiving the email to say it had been completed and dispatched was less than 48 hours I received the finished product about ten days later.
