I thought I would take the time to introduce myself and explain why I decided to take the step into event photography, a tough and very competitive market.
I am a wildlife biologist by training and picked up a few awards along the way for my wildlife and nature photography, I am also a National Geographic Explorer so you may be wondering why I would start up with event photography, well here is my story:
I have actually been shooting weddings and events on and off for the last ten years from Naval retirements celebrations and ladies lunches to sport and weddings, but until a few years ago I would not have even thought about doing event and wedding photography as a business. Encouraged by my family and friends I agreed to give it a go, but decided to wait until I had completed a major research project first so I could dedicate the time to setting it up properly. I am delighted to now offer creative, fun, romantic and relaxed event photography covering everything from lunches to weddings.
The hardest part was deciding on the packages and prices that I would offer as it is an incredibly competitive area. Turning to my friends again, I asked lots of questions about what they would look for in a package and in a photographer to capture their special day and came up with my two basic packages, a whole day and a half day (I do offer everything from a couple of hours to a weekend and even location weddings). I wanted to offer affordable but professional packages that would be available to and appeal to everyone, especially with many couples on a budget, further research has shown that many people would prefer to make their own albums with other memories from the day including photos from friends and family and also from the honeymoon, so my packages include a presentation USB with albums available to add onto any package, for details and prices please visit the price page.
So, what do I offer as a photographer? I bring over fifteen years of photographic experience developing my own creative style of photography in the field of nature and wildlife to event photography along with ten years of experience photographing events and weddings. I offer something that little bit different, whilst always capturing those specific images and details requested by my clients no matter how small. I am a friendly, outgoing person who will always put everything I have into your special day or event helping to make any ideas you have a reality. Included in your package is a pre-event meeting to chat about specific requirements or any ideas that you have and how we can make them happen on the day, this pre-event meeting can be over a cup of coffee, a walk through at the venue (depending on location) or an engagement shoot.
